My heart is overflowing just now.
FedEx dropped off a package at my front door. I figured it was tools or equipment that my husband had ordered for his business. But it's not. It's a large box packed full of organic fruit:

These delights are a gift from a dear friend whom I've never seen in person. We became friends a few years ago through an editorial professionals' e-mail list; I went on to work on a project for her when she did an in-house stint as a developmental editor for a publisher. We follow each other's lives and cheer each other on. She knows me well enough to figure out that because I've changed the way I eat in the last 4 months, organic fruits are the perfect gift.
Anyone who says Internet friends aren't real friends has no heart.

What a lovely gift! Can I come over to your house for snacktime?
And I posted about online friendships today, too!
Yes! Come on over! There are mangoes and pomegranates too.
i wish i can have a bite too! :) those fruits look yummy!
Sure! Fruit for everybody, on the house! :-)
What timing. I've been thinking (and talking to Brandi) a great deal in the last few days about "Internet friends" and what they've become for me. And just moments ago, I posted a brief reply comment on the "Beware" post about it. So ironic. Everyone's on the same page today. Thanks for sharing this. I'm so glad for you that you get to enjoy this wonderfully sweet gesture. :)
I saw that comment, Stephanie. :-) You're one of my Internet friends, and I'm glad about that.
The Unexpected Gift. Out of the blue. I love those, both as recipient and maybe even more, as giver. I have no doubt your friendship warrants it.
Internet friends can be just what you need, sometimes. I have quite a few, and I often feel as impelled to share something with one of them as with my in-the-flesh friends.
I note, though, I have mixed feelings about them when it comes to my fifteen year old daughter. WHO are you corresponding with?? Etcetera.
Satsumas, my favorite. Happy eating and, HEY! watch that juice running down your arm!! Yeesh!
Betsy, you're one of my delightful Internet friends. It's always a joy to hear from you.
