More and more evidence is being uncovered that biology plays a huge part in whether a person is gay, straight, or somehwere in between. Looks to me like yet more evidence that people should be accepted as who they are.

Katharine ... while I personally think there is a strong biological component to both sexual orientation and gender identity, a case for BGLT equality needs to be built on more than biology.
1. Plenty of folks are willing to ignore biological science already (witness the ongoing evolution debates).
2. Plenty of folks have discriminated on the basis of biological traits in the past (e.g. people of color and women were and still are discriminated against in our society).
3. If it's "biological" and our religious right neighbors accept this, what's to stop them from trying to "cure" homosexuality as a "disease"?
We need to establish a cultural ethic where all sexual orientations are cosidered "normal" and we view the existing diversity in our world as part of the wide range of "normal" that naturally occurs.
We need to establish a culture where justice, equality, and compassion are the norm and not the exception.
All excellent points, Steve. Thank you.
