I've written about the benefits of working at a sit–stand or standing desk. Now here's evidence that I dance while I'm standing at work, and that editing can indeed be aerobic. Silly you—you thought editing was a sedentary task. If you like disco, crank up your speakers while you watch the video clip. Why, yes, I am a middle-aged geezer.

Love it! Although my fave of the week for moving while working is Reggaeturkton... which you will have to Google.
Did your back hurt when you first started standing to work? That's my issue (that and plantar fasciitis). Working on getting more fit, so I use an underdesk elliptical while I'm working.
Janell, yes it did. And so did my hips, my knees, ankles, and my feet. What worked best for me was to alternate sitting and standing in short spurts—30 minutes standing, 30 minutes sitting, 30 minutes standing ... Gradually, I've built up muscular strength and can now stand for 2 or 3 hours at a time, though I'm always moving as I stand.
Good to know. Maybe I'll try that. I just prop my laptop up on a box/trunk to elevate my workstation.
Janell, it's an excellent idea to use a temporary solution like yours before investing in any sit–stand or standing desk. That way you get used to working while standing before buying furniture or equipment you might not use. Slow and steady wins the race. ;-)
