I am astounded: A prominent American politican has had the courage to search his soul, change his mind, and explain why publicly without dissembling.
Wednesday, Republican San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders announced that he would sign the city's amicus brief asking his state's highest court to reverse a ban on same-sex marriage. He had long said that he supported only civil unions. He held a press conference to explain his new stance.
Watch it—it's very powerful—and be inspired.

I heard about it on NPR. It is an amazing thing. Too bad not everyone can admit they were wrong.
Great post.
Because of family chaos and projects, work, and planning for the trip (for which we leave very shortly), for the last several days I've been oblivious to much of the world outside my immediate sphere. So when I saw this post earlier today, it was the first I'd heard of this. We watched the video. And as expected, we cried along with him. Thanks for sharing.
It really is amazing! wonderfully so.
