A Clear Sign of Alzheimer's in McCain

Totally unprepared, unknown Sarah Palin, a heartbeat away from the presidency of the United States. That choice is the clearest sign yet that John McCain has Alzheimer's disease. Please, someone in power—insist that McCain get a medical examination immediately, done by a nonpartisan physician.

It's strange, but in a diabolically clever way, I fear. She is the darling of right wing talk radio, so for the folks who listen to it, she is not a newcomer.

The point about the physician being nonpartisan is very important.

Hmmm, let me just get this straight, so a first term senator from Illinois (who has only served three years of his term, has spent the bulk of the last year campaigning) whose only prior “real world” experience has been a stint as a neighborhood organizer on the local level is somehow more “qualified” for the Presidency than a woman who has spent the past twenty months as the governor of the state of Alaska (racking up an 80% approval rating) as well as a small town mayor (and, incidentally, has been nominated for the Vice Presidency anyway). Sorry, but that sounds a little hypocritical to my ears.

Anon, Obama has experience at the federal level; Palin does not. Palin is also involved in several scandals, so it's quite clear that McCain and his team did not vet her at all.

You know God must love stupid people, because he made so many of them. There is now way McCain has Alzheimer's. My wife was diagnosed with this disease at 57years of age. So beieve me when I say McCain does not and cannot have Alzheimer's. He may lose his keys or glasses or misquote a name once an a while but this is not Alzheimer's. This is called a senior moment. When my wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, I didn't know much about the disease or the impact it would have on our lives. But believe me when I say I know as much about this disease as any doctor now and I know without a dought, or a test that McCain does not have Alzheimer's. One hundred years ago Dr. Alzheimer put a name to the disease and today we still don't know why someone gets AD or how to cure it. If our lovely Congressmen and Senators would come back from their five week vacation and vote on a bill which would increase funding for Alzheimer's, maby then and only then, we may find a cure for this dreadly disease.

I'm sorry, Anon 8:29, that your wife developed Alzheimer's. But I'm not speaking here without knowledge. I am a medical copyeditor and am familiar with the signs of Alzheimer's. McCain is exhibiting several of the early signs of the disease.

And as you will note if you read my comments policy (see the green sidebar; the policy is near the top), commenters are not allowed to call names here. Please refrain from calling me or anyone else stupid in future comments, or I will have to delete those comments. Your calling names does not prove your point or your intelligence.

@ anonymous (why do right-wing commenters always post anonymously?)--

Yes. Palin has (as you said) "twenty months" of experience as a governor. As Katharine points out, that's experience at the state, not federal level.

Obama has forty-four months experience at the federal level. He also has eighty-two months experience at the state level, as an Illinois State Senator, a fact which you conveniently left out.

You also denigrate his sixty months as a community organizer helping the politically disenfranchised find their voice and their power. You refer to this five years as "a stint."

You certainly seem to be something of an expert on hypocrisy.

This is without a dought the most ironic series of comments I have ever read. I am positive God loves stupid people, because he gives them all such fabulous keyboards.
