Gratuitous Cuteness
I'm back from a terrific camping vacation in northeastern Vermont. I have plenty of photos to share and exciting adventure tales to tell, but those will have to wait until tomorrow, so I can get everything together. Meanwhile, I give you some gratuitous cuteness:

My little nephew is just the same age as Neil, and he has the exact same haircut...Interesting how boys are wearing their hair so long now! :)

Neil is glad to hear about your nephew's haircut, Melissa. He's had several people lately assume, because of his hair length, that he's a girl. That ticks him off. I have a feeling that once puberty really kicks in, people will stop making that mistake. Already, the muscles in his skinny little body are taking on more definition.
They both look so much like their dad!

Well, yes and no, Imperatrix. Neil is definitely a carbon copy of Ed. And when the two boys are next to each other, they definitely look like brothers. But put Jared next to me—or especially next to a photo of me at his age—and it's obvious that he's a carbon copy of me.
The only two things that it appears Jared got from Ed are his belly shape and his extroversion. The only two things that it seems Neil got from me are a tendency to extreme seriousness and introversion.
So Ed and I like to say that Neil got Ed's body, Ed's ADHD, and my personality, whereas Jared got my body and Ed's personality.
I'd be willing to bet that the people who mistook him for a girl were all older than 30. "Never trust..."
*looks at own rapidly sliding age*

Seriously, though, I'm seeing those styles in media too, notably on the young men in some of the Harry Potter movies. I think it looks cool. Sort of Euro, if you ask me. :)
Euro wouldn't have occurred to Neil, but I can see what you mean, Melissa. Neil has a secret ambition of becoming a rock 'n' roll god. The only problem is overcoming his shyness. He doesn't want to perform on his electric guitar if anyone is watching him!
