From the Master Cabinetmaker Files

Time to show off more beautiful work by My Husband the Master Cabinetmaker.tm These shots are of a lazy Susan cabinet with chevron-shaped drawers; it was built to go into the corner of a kitchen and was made from rotary-cut select white maple. The cabinet will be lacquered when it's finished.

Cool chevron-shaped drawers! In this shot, the drawer
fronts hadn't yet been installed.

Katharine,

I'm going to take your word for it that the pictures show a lazy susan cabinet (as opposed to a non-rotating corner cabinet). But I'm having trouble visualizing it.

Can you either add a picture that show the cabinet turned away from the rest position or else explain in words what happens when you turn it?

Color me confused.

There's a reason you're confused, Dick. I didn't explain in my post that the customer decided he'd rather have stationary drawers than an actual lazy Susan inside the cabinet. Despite that situation, the cabinet is still called a lazy Susan cabinet. Go figure! (I'm with you and would've called it a nonrotating corner cabinet.)

But my husband says that the customer could still have requested that there be drawers that turn with a lazy Susan inside the cabinet. In that case, the drawer fronts would have had to be trimmed so that they wouldn't keep the lazy Susan from turning.
